The Pallida is a good choice and offers an atmospheric outgrowth. The color difference between the older and the younger provides an attractive result.

Our lime trees are available with standard stem heights as well as with deviant stem heights.

Are you looking for a lime tree with a stem height of 150 cm or 100 cm? We offer these in excellent quality.

Usually you would first choose the distance between the levels and take it from there. Available distances between levels are 30 cm, 40 cm, 50 and 60 cm.

The distance between levels depends on what the function of the tree is.

e.g. A distance of 30 cm gives the most beautiful screen effect in summer and offers maximum privacy.

The lime tree can be managed with hedge scissors using the four-year pruning technique. The Pallida and the Cordata Lime trees are one of the most suitable lime trees to pleach. They are distinguished from other Lime trees by their beautiful winter look and red twigs. However, it is worthwhile to think about other Lime varieties, as each variety provides a different effect. The Lime tree is a pleached tree with a great ecological value.

A specialty product of espaliers: the pleached Liquidambar. Years ago we selected the 'Worplesdon' as one of the most suitable trees for beautifully sustainable pleached structures.

The pleached Liquidambar has a deeply incised leaf. The leaf is always fresh and healthy and has a certain transparency which, together with the deep incisions of the leaf provides a beautiful light influx.

The healthy properties of the tree and leaves also make the Liquidambar suitable for standard and also more specific solar shading control.

The colors of the Liquidambar range from a fresh green in the spring to a beautiful composition of light to dark green in the summer.

The autumn colours are spectacular, they range from light orange pastel shades to a fiery red to deep purple and are perpetuallly changing during this season.

The durability of the tree depends on the manner of cultivation. At the nursery of espaliers, we only grow sustainable espaliers, the new generation if you will.

Because this tree is one of our specialties, we offer it in standard sizes and deviant sizes.

Suitable for damp, wet soils and most soil types.

Other names for this pleached tree: pleached liquidambar, pleached Sweet gum.

The green pleached Fagus or pleached Beech is one of our standard espaliers at the nursery.

We grow this tree in multiple stem heights. We can also provide you with a pleached beech with a lower or higher stem height.

We can also accommodate you if you are looking for an extra high screen.

The beech provides a compact but structured screen in a neutral green. The beech is sometimes confused with the pleached hornbeam. The leaf of the beech has a slight sheen and the color is slightly darker than the leaf of the hornbeam.

The leaves of the pleached beech are marscessant . It is due to this characteristic that you can see the difference between the pleached beech and the pleached hornbeam although nowadays we grow both types as evergreens.

This espalier is available on screen. Pleached fagus gives a nice result and are similar in terms of maintenance to the hornbeam.

Fagus is semi-marcescant when pleached but marcescent as a hedge.

This ornamental plum doesn't bear fruit. You can expect to see extremely pale pink flowers opening in early spring. They’re populous enough to cover the entire tree, and the leaves have the same colour as the Ghent cuberdon, a typical raspberry flavoured sweet.

If properly pleached this espalier creates a unique atmosphere and background.

The appearance of this tree with its distinct color is soft and neutral. When the sun is low, the leaves provide a unique light influx. It is then that the added value of the tree is made apparent.

Easy to maintain and available in various stem heights.

Also available as a parasol tree.

The Copper beech works wonderfully well as a pleached tree. Its properties are similar to that of the Green beech. This red variety is also a marcescent tree. The tree is slightly more sensitive to sunburn which means it is unsuitable for planting in places where there is a lot of sun or light reflection.

Available in screen form.

Combining the red beech with green hedges can be quite striking. The green of the hedges is brought out by the light to dark red leaves of the beech.

The pleached pin oak
The pin oak as espalier has a very atmospheric and natural appearance.
The magnificent leaves of this tree produce a beautiful light influx because of the way the leaf margins are incised.
We select trees that are evergreen.
Pleached pin oaks can be used both as a screen and as an espalier (in layers).
Besides the pleached pin oak we also cultivate this tree in a parasol shape (for solar shading control). This tree is very suitable as a natural parasol.
We offer the pleached pin oak as root-balled trees or container-grown trees. We don't offer  bare-root trees because we want to guarantee a tree that grows well..
Tree height 150, 180, 200, 220, 250, 275cm
In addition to our standard stem heights, we also grow deviant stem heights.
We also cultivate these trees as extra high screens in mature sizes.
The pin oak as espalier buds in spring, it grows light green, star shaped leaves. During the summer the leaves create a nice effect of depth thanks to the leaf shape and the different shades of green. During the autumn period the pin oak bursts into a unique spectacle of colors.
Contrary to what is claimed, the pin oak is not suitable for all soil types. Please seek advice before planting a pin oak.

The callery pear is one of the most beautiful deciduous espaliers. The leaves come early on the tree and don't fall off until late in the season. In the spring, before the foliage develops, the tree is laden with white flowers.
Early and late
Because the leaves come out early and disappear late in the season, this tree has a short period of rest, so it offers a long period of privacy. If continuous privacy is desired we recommend other types and shapes.
Planting times
Because the optimal planting period is very short, we offer this tree in a container or root ball so there are no problems with regrowth.
Pear Blossom
The Callery pear tree does not bear fruit. Blossoms are produced abundantly in early spring. The tree is remarkably resistant to diseases that affect the common pear. This ensures the tree always has an aura of health about itself.
The color palette of the callery pear makes sure it looks good in any type of garden. The trees are tolerant of a variety of soil types, drainage levels, and soil acidity.

Preferably applicable to levels.
Dimensions
Available in multiple heights, the standard heights are usually: 100-150 - 180 - 200 -220 cm.
The space between levels is 30cm or 40cm. We recommend 30cm because the callery pear has small leaves.

In practice, this means 4-5 and 7 levels, that can possibly be grown as a screen.

Cultivated sustainably. Not to be confused with the pleached common pear.

The pleached hornbeam is a strong and durable espalier.
At first sight it might seem inconspicuous but upon closer inspection this tree has a beautiful muscular trunk and fresh delicate leaves. We grow this tree in a certain way so that these properties aren enhanced even further.
This native tree is one of our specialties at our nursery. This allows us to grow the pleached hornbeam in both standard and deviant trunk sizes and trunk types.

We are able to cater to smaller gardens with our pleached hornbeam. There are four varieties of hornbeam available.
Available in levels or screen shape.
Sustainably cultivated
We focus on durabilitiy when pleaching the branches, both when growing them in levels or screen shape. This makes our pleached hornbeam unique and maintenance friendly.

Our selected trees keep their leaves for a long time or remain marcescent during their dry state.
Able to withstand high winds, except strong sea winds.

The pleached Field Maple with its distinctive leaf can be used as a screen. The foliage creates a picturesque effect.

The trunks are light brown and have corky wings.
The autumnal color is yellow and may appear early. The tree is completely deciduous.
The field maple is suitable for almost all soil types. It can also thrive in a coastal region except very near the sea.
Available in multiple stem heights.
Maintenance
Pruning in the autumn.
The field maple is a fast growing tree.

The pleached plane tree remains a beautiful espalier.
Pleached plane trees require more maintenance than sycamores. Pruning to restrict growth is not very easy with this espalier.
That is why we recommend this tree for larger gardens only.

The leaves of the pleached plane tree leaves can form a pale-coloured screen. The large leaves give complete privacy shortly after budding. The trunk is covered in beautiful patterns.
The autumnal color is yellow to golden yellow.

Maintenance: The plane as espalier requires a particular maintenance. The mode of growth is important to consider. A poorly pleached plane is not sustainable.
Branches of pleached plane trees (and other espaliers) should never be crushed when pleached as is sometimes claimed erroneously.
Also platanus hispanica (trade name)

The gingko forms a refined and subtle screen with its unique leaves. The green color is quite remarkable.
If you take a closer look at the leaf, you discover a unique structure which tells you more about its genetic origins as a conifer. The ginkgo is a conifer, but behaves like a deciduous tree.
The autumnal color is a lovely and the leaves change colour at the same time with minimal color nuances. The fallen leaves are best left untouched because they are also a feast for the eye.
Ginkgo is cultivated in several types. Planting the correct type in the right circumstances is a challenge.

Maidenhair has medicinal properties, it is often taken as a supplement to enhance mental focus.

This tree is available in multiple stem heights.
Besides pleached for privacy and atmosphere we also cultivate Ginkgo biloba as a shade tree.
