Parrotia persica

Parrotia responds well to pruning and that is partly why it is in our range. This tree is valuable as a parasol tree and as an espalier.

The leaf of the espalier Parrotia looks like a beech leaf but has more depth and colour. Already in the month of August the edges can change colour to fire red and this can continue until deep in the autumn. Its Dutch name is Persian ironwood and you notice this when you prune it. The branches are strong and somewhat more difficult to prune than the average espalier. Yet the Parrotia is maintenance-friendly.

We offer this espalier in standard sizes and in non-standard sizes. Parrotia belongs to the espaliers with remarkable colours. The trunk is also very decorative.
